Led the designs of a mobile app and website of a banking solution that addresses the gaps left by current core banking providers. Included features that utilise CDR and open banking
The brief
Biza helps organisations (mainly banks) navigate the highly regulated Consumer Data Right (CDR) ecosystem.
They engaged Propel Ventures to understand the gaps and drawbacks that banks face with their current digital banking solutions, and provide a solution that filled these gaps, along with some CDR capabilities.
What we did
We spoke to 5 mid-tier banks about their frustrations with the current core banking solution.
What we found

Inconsistency between the app and desktop experience e.g. being able to increase the limit on their debit card on the web, but not on the app.

Core banking solution not providing important modern functionality such as the ability to add cards to a digital wallet.

Banks were looking for non-mainstream features such as utilising CDR to provide users the ability to get an overview of their finances across multiple banks, or
-
Users wanted to pull their financial information from other banks for something like a ‘goal’ e.g. saving for a house deposit.
My design solution
Design system
Since this was a proof of concept and there wasn’t an existing design system, I decided to pull together the atoms of a small design system myself.



Fixing the inconsistency
All the features in the app existed in the website, in more or less the same location.


Providing modern functionality
Such as giving users the option to add their card to a digital wallet.
